what to expect in Treatment with us

Keeping You Informed Along the Way

 FAQ

  • First, an initial 60-90 minute evaluation will take place where you and your provider will review your past medical and mental health history and discuss your current symptoms and treatment goals. Your provider will educate you on various medication options including the risks/benefits as well as other relevant information on dosing, etc. Our goal is to ensure you feel comfortable with the ultimate treatment plan that is developed. Follow-up appointments will include ongoing evaluation of medication effectiveness and any need for adjustment or changes.

  • The length of therapy varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some clients may see progress in a few months, while others may continue longer for deeper work. Your therapist will collaborate with you to regularly assess progress and adjust the approach as needed. The focus is on what feels right for your unique situation.

  • For your intake session and follow-up appointments, you have the option to choose either in-person or virtual meetings, depending on the availability of your provider and your proximity to our Fishers, IN office. We aim to provide flexible care that works for your schedule and location.

  • Yes, we offer a sliding scale with our Clinical Intern, Courtney Paige Harrough. Standard session rates are $60 per hour, with limited availability for $30 per hour for clients who present a specific financial need. Please refer to this link to see if you qualify for income assisted sliding scale and share this with your provider upon scheduling: https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/home-datasets/files/HOME_IncomeLmts_State_IN_2024.pdf

  • Accepted insurance carriers Anthem/ Optum/ UHC/ UMR/ UBH/ Cigna/Aetna/Ambetter/ Medicaid/Medicare

Our providers (with the exception of Doris May and Courtney “CP” Harrough) are in-network with the plans listed above; however, it is important for you to verify the specific coverage of your individual plan. For example, some carriers do not cover telehealth services, even with in-network providers.

If do not see your insurance carrier on this list, ask us about a superbill. We kindly ask a credit card be kept on file.

  • You have until 24 hours before your appointment to cancel or reschedule by calling or emailing. Cancellations or reschedules within the 24-hour window will result in a full charge for the session.

  • We partner with Stripe Merchant Services to provide secure and seamless payment processing. When using a debit or credit card, including Discover, American Express (AMEX), Visa, Mastercard, and FSA/HSA cards, a 2.9% processing fee will be applied to your transaction.

This fee is automatically charged to the card at the time of payment to cover processing costs. We appreciate your understanding and support as we ensure a safe and efficient payment experience.

  • If a client has two unpaid (2) sessions, their care will be paused until payment is resolved. To continue services, the balance must be paid in full or an active weekly payment plan must be established.

We will always notify clients of any payment declines and are happy to discuss available options. Payment plans may be offered on a case-by-case basis—please speak with your provider for more details.

Insurance clients are encouraged to contact their insurance provider to confirm eligible claims and understand the processing timeline for coverage.

  • Services Provided

We provide psychiatric medication management and psychotherapy services via telehealth and/or in-person.

Successful psychiatric treatment depends upon close collaboration and open communication between provider and patient. While we will make every effort to help you reach your treatment goals, we cannot contract for a guaranteed result.

    Length and Frequency of Meetings

    Medication Management Services

Treatment begins with an initial consultation approximately 60 to 90 minutes in length, depending on complexity. During this meeting, you and your provider will explore your reasons for seeking treatment, review your psychiatric, social, and medical history, and begin to establish treatment goals. After your initial meeting, you and your provider will meet monthly (or more frequently) for approximately 30 minutes until stability is achieved at which point the appointment times will gradually be pushed further out. If a controlled substance is part of your treatment regimen, you will be required to meet with your provider at least every 3 months.

    Psychotherapy Services

Treatment begins with an initial consultation approximately 60 minutes in length, depending on complexity. During this meeting, you and your therapist will explore your reasons for seeking treatment, review your psychiatric, social, and medical history, and begin to establish treatment goals. After your initial meeting, you and your therapist will determine the frequency of ongoing therapy sessions which are typically 50-60 minutes in duration. This applies to individual, couples, and family therapy.

    Insurance/Fee Policy

Currently, most of our providers are in network with Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Medicaid, Medicare, Optum, UBH, UHC, UMR. You are responsible for any deductible, copay, or coinsurance amounts as dictated by your insurance plan.

It is your responsibility to understand your insurance coverage. If you will be seeing a provider virtually, be sure to verify with your insurer that telehealth services are covered prior to your first visit. If they are not, you would be subject to our self-pay rates for services. You are responsible for notifying us promptly of any changes in your insurance plan.

If you do not have coverage under one of the in-network entities listed, our self-pay rates will apply. We can provide you with a detailed statement called a "superbill" documenting services, diagnostic codes, and payments upon request. This documentation can be submitted by you to your insurance company for consideration for reimbursement.

Please refer to the current fee schedule for details of pricing. Fees are subject to change based on changes to insurance contracted rates and/or at the discretion of Adjust Mental Health, LLC. A Good Faith Estimate, as required by the No Surprises Act for out-of-network services, can be provided at your request.

Please note we do not charge for brief phone calls under 10 minutes, medication refills, or responses to emails/messages. This cost is factored into our standard hourly rates. Extensive calls or email exchanges will be subject to being charged anywhere between $25.73-$102.19 depending on time/ complexity.

If you become involved in legal proceedings that require our participation, you will be expected to pay for our professional time even if called to testify by another party. Because of the difficulty of legal involvement, we charge per hour for preparation and attendance at any legal proceeding. The exact fee will be set at the time our involvement is requested.

Please note that unless explicitly agreed upon at the start of our work together, our role is first and foremost as your clinicians and not as expert witnesses that render opinions for the courts. We cannot serve as both an impartial evaluator for the court and as your treaters. At times, we could be called to testify as a “fact witness” where we do not render opinions regarding the legal matter but could be called to state objective facts about our work together. You may request a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of your care be provided in writing at any time.

    Payment

We accept all major credit cards, ACH/Wire Transfers, and checks. Payment is required at the time of service and will be considered past due after 30 business days. We require a credit card to be placed on file, and our credit card processor, "Stripe," securely stores the information according to industry standards. Stripe’s 2.9% processing fee is incorporated into the fee schedule for your convenience.

Please note that once entered, we do not have access to the actual credit card number other than the last four digits. We will charge the payment method on file after sessions. Patients using insurance will be charged their patient responsibility amount according to the Explanation of Benefits we receive from the insurance company.

Individuals who cancel or reschedule initial consultations may be re-booked at the discretion of the clinician. Typically, no more than one re-scheduling in advance is permitted for an initial consultation and a deposit will be required for re-scheduling if the first appointment is missed without adequate notice (less than 24 hours). The patient or the responsible financial party is responsible for any returned check fees.

If a client has two unpaid (2) sessions, their care will be paused until payment is resolved. To continue services, the balance must be paid in full or an active weekly payment plan must be established. We will always notify clients of any payment declines and are happy to discuss available options. Payment plans may be offered on a case-by-case basis—please speak with your provider for more details.

Insurance clients are encouraged to contact their insurance provider to confirm eligible claims and understand the processing time for coverage.

As the subject of delinquent bills can interfere with the therapeutic relationship, if attempts at making arrangements for payment are ignored, we have the option of terminating treatment and/ or using legal means to secure the payment. This may involve hiring a collection agency or going through small claims court. If such legal action is necessary, its costs will be included in the claim.

We ask that any disputes or concerns about billing be handled first by contacting us directly rather than disputing a charge with the credit card company. Disputing charges for services agreed upon and rendered due to not being satisfied with the results is not an effective way to address concerns and can disrupt treatment efforts and the therapeutic alliance.

    Cancellations

If you need to cancel an appointment for any reason, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Otherwise, you may be subject to a late cancel/no show fee of $100 at your provider's discretion.

Please be aware that insurance carriers will not reimburse you for cancellation charges. We reserve the right to waive the cancellation fee under certain unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances (for example, state of emergency / severe weather / natural disaster / you or a family member are hospitalized or being evaluated in an emergency room or urgent care setting). Regular attendance at our appointments is a key component of successful treatment and if problems arise with attendance, it is important that we work together to develop a feasible treatment plan. We in turn will make every effort to start sessions on time and will only cancel in the event of a personal or clinical emergency with as much notice as is possible.

Please note that you may receive automated confirmations and reminders of appointments. These notifications are courtesy and technical glitches sometimes occur so in the event a reminder is not received; you are still responsible for keeping track of when your appointments are. Please feel free to contact us if you are unsure. Your signature of this document indicates you understand and agree to receive these communications.

    Vacation and Time Away

At times, our providers may take vacation, attend professional conferences, or engage in other work travel. Whenever possible, we will give you advance notice regarding absences. We will arrange for coverage by another qualified clinician for urgent situations while away.

    Communication Outside Scheduled Appointments

Please feel free to contact your clinician(s) and administrative staff via phone call, email, or Osmind secure messaging. If you send a message or have a request that your provider feels would require more in-depth discussion to address, you may be asked to schedule an appointment. Note that all members of your treatment team within our practice (therapist, psychiatric NP/PA, collaborating physician, administrative staff) may have access to the voicemails and emails/messages, and they are considered part of the medical record. Calls are generally returned within 24-48 hours on weekdays. In the event of a life-threatening psychiatric or medical emergency, please go directly to the nearest emergency room or call 9-1-1 rather than waiting for a call back. Note that you can also call the national 988 Suicide and Crisis Line for additional support between sessions. We are not affiliated with this service, and it should not be used for medical emergencies.

While we use HIPAA compliant email and phone services and all attempts are made to keep emails, voicemails, and Osmind Messages secure and confidential, security breaches can occur over wi-fi and cellular networks so privacy cannot be guaranteed.

If you do not give permission to receive SMS texts, voicemails or emails from our practice, please send us a message or email stating, “I WOULD LIKE TO OPT-OUT OF ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS," and specify which means of communication are not permissible. You may opt-out at any time.

    Social Media Policy

Please note that we do not accept “friend” requests or follow patients or their family members on our personal social media accounts. We may maintain professional social media accounts and anyone in the general public can follow these accounts should they choose to do so. Note that by “liking” or following a professional social media account of the practice or its clinicians, others may be able to see that you follow it. Please do not contact your clinician(s) via their professional social media accounts as these are not secure means of communication. Reserve contact to the HIPAA compliant methods outlined above.

Clinicians may, especially in the case of emergency, review any public social media content that you are associated with if it could be relevant to treatment and your well-being.

    Confidentiality

Confidence in patient/doctor confidentiality is an essential component of mental health treatment. Information that you share with our practice will be kept strictly confidential and will not be disclosed without your consent. A written release of information is usually required for the transfer of information, except as discussed below.

To provide optimal care, we may need to discuss your treatment with a colleague. In this case, we will take pains to conceal or disguise identifying information, including using a pseudonym or first name only. In addition, we may receive peer supervision from other clinicians within our practice but no one from our practice will access your chart unless part of your treatment team.

There are some exceptions where we may share information without your authorized release. For example, we are required to report abusive treatment and/ or neglect of a child, elder, or disabled person to the proper authorities. We must report the threat of serious bodily harm to oneself or others and take appropriate steps to prevent it. We may seek a patient's hospitalization to protect the individual. If warranted, we may notify the potential victim of a threat, as well as the potential victim’s family members or police.

Please note that loved ones or other concerned parties may at any time disclose information to clinicians at our practice. We are not able to confirm that a patient is under our care or provide other information without a signed release, except in case of emergency as noted above, but cannot reject information that is provided to us from people who know a patient. It is our practice to notify you if we do receive information like this from people in your life. Please see our detailed Notice of Privacy Practices for further information.

    Freedom to Withdraw

You or your provider have the right to end treatment at any time. If you wish, at the time of termination, we will give you the names of other qualified mental health professionals or programs.
