Courtney “CP” Harrough

Empathetic, Embodied, and Empowered Therapy

I’m Courtney Paige Harrough (they/them), but you can call me CP! I’m a therapist, educator, patient advocate, and community organizer based in Indianapolis, Indiana. My work as a therapist is rooted in an empathetic, embodied, and empowered approach to healing. For me, therapy is not just about offering advice—it’s about creating a space where you can explore your emotions, find understanding, and develop the tools you need to feel more in control of your life. My goal is to help you feel safe, seen, and heard, so you can navigate emotional and relational challenges with confidence and resilience.

Empathy is at the heart of my practice. I understand how important it is to feel like someone truly listens to and values your experiences, without judgment or dismissal. Every person’s journey is unique, and I make it a priority to meet you exactly where you are. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, or identity concerns, my approach is one of deep compassion and respect for your lived experiences. I believe in creating a space where you can truly be yourself, and where healing can unfold at your own pace.

In my work, I also focus on the mind-body connection. I believe that true healing often happens when we listen to both our emotions and our bodies. I draw on approaches like (ACT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, somatic therapy, and trauma-informed care to help you reconnect with yourself—your body, your thoughts, your emotions. This integration of body and mind is a key part of my approach, as it allows you to explore how past experiences may be showing up in your body and how to release that stored tension and emotion.

I am passionate about making therapy a collaborative process. I don’t see myself as the expert in your life; you are. My role is to help you discover your strengths and empower you to take charge of your own healing journey. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan that meets your specific needs and supports your emotional well-being. This partnership allows you to take ownership of your path, giving you the tools to thrive, both in and outside of therapy.

With over 7 years of experience in sexual health education facilitation, domestic violence research and prevention, and working directly with individuals, I specialize in helping people explore their relationships with self, gender, intimacy, pleasure, and power dynamics. I also help clients navigate religious and cultural beliefs, supporting them in divesting from limiting or harmful beliefs and repurposing what serves them. My approach is to empower you to leave behind what no longer aligns with your values and build a life and identity that feels authentic and true to you.

I have a particular passion for working with survivors of trauma, especially those who have experienced sexual violence, as well as individuals from LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. My background as a survivor-victim advocate and my focus on sexual health and reproductive justice shape my work in meaningful ways. My goal is to make therapy an affirming, trauma-sensitive space where you can explore your identity, relationships, and sense of self in an empowering way.

In addition to my clinical work, I have extensive experience working in community-based settings, from non-profits to academic institutions, where I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse groups. At Adjust Mental Health, LLC, I work with individuals and couples to assess their emotional and relational health, helping them create meaningful progress toward their mental well-being. I’m also involved in offering training and education in areas such as consent, trauma-informed care, and sexual health awareness, bringing valuable insights to communities and organizations.

Above all, I believe that therapy is a space for connection—between us, and within yourself. It’s about more than just processing emotions; it’s about empowering you to trust yourself, embrace your own healing, and live a more authentic life. I’m honored to be part of that process, and I’d love to work with you to help you step into a more empowered version of yourself.
